About Us

Welcome to GT Sporthorses located in the Scenic Rim Region the horse capital of South East Queensland.

GT Sporthorses is a boutique breeding and dressage farm operated by James Miller and Georgia Calvert. Both James and Georgia share a keen passion for breeding and producing dressage horses and the ever expanding knowledge they gain along the way.

James made the journey to Germany where he spent 5 years training under the guidance of Peter Weston,International Dressage competitor. During his time with Peter and Kim, James learnt the skill and detail required to operate a professional competition stable and assisted in the daily training of horses up to International Grand Prix level as well as competing horses up to M level.

Upon his return to Australia in 2002 James was fortunate to become the manager of Goron Toron Stud established in 1990 and owned by the late Mr Goto. James spent 7 years at Goron Toron, he had success with the young breeding stallion APH Ludo winning QLD young horse qualifiers and a second place at the Australian Young Horse Championships. During his time at Goron Toron James’s focus moved more towards the breeding side of the industry and preparation of youngsters which James has an outstanding reputation for.

Georgia spent the first years of her dressage training at Heartherton Park(J&E Schmul) during that time she gained experience in starting young horses under saddle, preparing horses for sale and competition. At the age of 18 Georgia spent a year working at Belcam stud.Belcam was at the forefront of Warmblood breeding in Australia at that time. During her time at Belcam Georgia met Adam Riess a German berieter who has been the most influential person in her riding. Georgia has been a Victorian YR squad member and served as the AWHA(Vic) President in 20052006.
